Oh Happy Dance .....I made it!!

Finalist !!
In the McCall's Quilt - Quilt Design Star 2012

Well thanks to the support of all of you out there the judges have selected my design to be one of the Finalists in the professional category in the McCall's Quilt Design Star 2012 Challenge.

It has been a long day of checking my e-mails to see who was selected. Good thing I was out helping a few friends get there quilts ready for a small quilt show at the Art's Building here in town ( show from May29 to June 23). Other wise I was checking every 30 minutes or sew.

Sew now I am off to design my next piece for Challenge 1.
I'll be sure to post when you can start to pick your favorites in the next round.

I'll have to do better with my pictures for the next one ..... It dose not look sew good having the couch and plants etc around the quilt....... thanks for voting for me even with my faults.
Be sure to check out the McCall's Quilting web site to see which designers go forward with Challenge 1.  Good Luck to all the participants.

Well this is a year of Firsts.
I designed a quilt    .... Jewels of the Night...... for a challenge and entered it
and now I have entered myself with Jewels of the Night into
Mc Calls Quilt Design Star 2012
it took me a while to get my picture loaded but I think it is successful and I am now entered
Voting starts May 1st you can vote once a day per group
I have entered into the Professional group as I have sold a few patterns in the past that I have self published. There are 2 groups Professional and Amateur.
Sew if you are inclined pop by mccallsquilting.com and vote for your favorite quilt/designer
vote once,  vote often.
Those who win at the different levels of the competition will have a few extra challenges over the next few months.
I told myself if you do not enter you will never know ..... sew that  is why I did it.
And the fact that I have had such wonderful people say that they think this is a great idea and worth a try, and have given me great support along the journey.

The deadline is this weekend to the Saskatchewan Stitches Conference 10 th Anniversary Challenge submissions sew I will post the quilt sew that if you go to vote you have an idea of what it looks like. I could only submit one picture sew here it is

a Friday finish

Well yesterday I finally finished Jewels of the Night.
Complete with label and hanging sleeves. I used two shorter sleeves sew that one can use a center support if needed.I thought this would make displaying it at the conference easier, and with out any damage to the quilt.

I had a lot of fun working on Jewels of the Night. It was the First time I have taken part in a challenge. I created my own design and was able to learn more about EQ7 (Electric Quilt 7  Quilt design software )
When using this software it helps you to put your ides on a quilt layout and change it up as much as you like. You can change color/fabric placement as well. You can print off the yardages needed.  You   also can print off templates , rotary cutting as well as paper piecing .... which ever applies to the block. You do how ever, have to figure out how to put it together.

Sew now I just have to get it entered and over to the shop in Humboldt this month sometime. The deadline is April 15,2012.  Good luck to all who enter.
boxed and ready to go
I would like to take a few pictures of it first sew that I have them ready to share with you all out there, as soon as the conference starts.
